A Christian Response to Racism in Society

The latest incidence of racially motivated brutality in the States is both deplorable and heartbreaking. Beyond the pain of murder that will be felt by the relatives and friends of the victim, the pain resonates outwards and further deepens the divides between people groups. These groups are divided not only by race but by ideologies – the chasm between political left and right has widened even further.

The purpose of this article is not to pick a political side. My purpose is to ask – how should Christians respond? Not only to this particular incident but what about racism in their society generally? Some Christian posts have encouraged us as Christians to “get angry” about the racial divisions we see today. They want Christians to go out and “do something” about the state of race relations today. The problem is, what exactly is the “something”?

Part III of “The God-Centered Life: “The Way of Worship”

Read it online:  https://usr.helps7.com/AtChristsTable/index.html
The God-Centered Life (a 3-part series)
God-Centeredness” is a quintessential issue.
All Christians, as well as, all churches and ministries come down on one side of the line or the other regarding Man-Centeredness or God-Centeredness.
There is a very clear line of demarcation. Our perspective has implications for virtually every activity of both our personal and corporate lives as Christians.
Our perspective also affects our understanding of God Himself, as well as His eternal plans and purposes.
In order to address the issue of God-Centeredness, we need to investigate God’s intention – His plan and purpose – in creation.
And in order to properly understand this, we need to see things from God’s point of view.
And in order to have God’s point of view, we need to adopt an eternal perspective.
When we have become convinced that the vast majority of Christians, churches and ministries are preoccupied with Man-Centeredness rather than God-Centeredness - seeing things from a self-centered point of view rather than God’s point of view - this question emerges: “What can be done about changing all this?” Or better, “What has God provided as a means of changing our tendencies?”
The biblical answer would be – the Cross – not only the Message of the Cross, but also The Way of the Cross – a rare topic for the present generation.
And, God has provided another way to also center on Him and not on self - “The Way of Worship”.

Do you feel it too? Do you feel a massive change and event on the near horizon? Maybe you do and maybe you don’t, but I most certainly do. This world is simmering, and the temperature keeps steadily climbing. The rich and powerful are lining their chess pieces up and are ready to turn things up. There is political dissension everywhere. Provocations of war everywhere. Economic stress everywhere. Debt piling up like never before. Mass shootings and acts of terrorism everywhere. But are we listening? Let’s go over the potential risks of 2020. Let’s Begin!
